Edzell Golf Club PGA professional, Alastair Webster, has the chance to shine next week when he takes on some of golf’s biggest names in the ISPS HANDA PGA Seniors Championship,

Webster, along with fellow PGA professionals Fraser Mann, from Musselburgh, and Peter Smith, from Deeside Golf Club), will be up against a host of star players including former Ryder Cup-winning captains Sam Torrance and Ian Woosnam and numerous past Ryder Cup players as they tee up in the £260,000 tournament at Cheshire’s De Vere Mottram Hall from June 6, to June 9.

Webster will be making his fifth successive appearance in the event, which is the longest-running tournament on the European Senior Tour, after qualifying via the Senior PGA Professional Championship at Northants County this month. Mann will be making his third start in four years having also qualified as one of the top 20 finishers. Smith, who won the Senior PGA title in 2011, secured his place in the field on the back of finishing in a share of fifth last year.

The tournament, which will be played over the Dave Thomas-designed championship course, remains one of the flagship events on the Senior circuit and is one of only two 72-hole championships on the Tour – the other being the Senior Open Championship.
