Quarterback Greyson Lambert struggles early in Georgia’s win against Vanderbilt

The Commodores rode a strong defensive effort to keep this week’s game against #9 Georgia close, but ultimately their offense couldn’t capitalize on those opportunities in a 31-14 loss to the Bulldogs on Saturday.

After another Georgia punt, Vanderbilt moved to the Bulldogs’ 28 before he was again intercepted, and Dominick Sanders returned the pigskin 88 yards to put an exclamation point on the ballgame.

In an incident hauntingly reminiscent of Georgia’s last visit to the Music City, Bulldogs sophomore linebacker Lorenzo Carter was flagged midway in the first quarter for targeting the Vanderbilt quarterback.

Vanderbilt forced a three-and-out and immediately moved 42 yards in five plays, capped by a seven-yard strike from McCrary to Latevius Reyford and then a McCrary run to pull the ‘Dores within 24-14.

Notes: Former Vanderbilt basketball player Festus Ezeli, a member of Golden State’s NBA title team this past year, preceded the Vanderbilt team onto the field holding the Larry O’Brien championship trophy.
