Will Bridgeport run at state title

It’s a new season for the Bridgeport boys soccer team.

Only eight months removed from losing in the 4A state title game to Kilgore in a shootout, Bridgeport returns the majority of its team but will have a new coach.

Cartwright is tasked with leading the Bulls this season.

It wasn’t until Cartwright started playing recreationally that he fell in love with the game, eventually joining competitive soccer leagues while he was in college.

Cartwright takes over for former coach Ben Parks, and inherits a Bridgeport team that went 20-4-5 last season.

The Bulls’ high-powered offense averaged three goals per game last year, while their stingy defense allowed an average of 0.96 goals per game.

The Bulls also welcome back junior Giovanni Martinez, senior Jesus Aguilar, sophomore Jonathan Juarez, sophomore Rigoberto Alvarez, sophomore Eddie Munoz, senior Andrew Stotts and senior Juan Amador.
