World No.4 David Ferrer withdraws from Monte Carlo Masters

David Ferrer, World No. 4 announced that he will not play in Monte Carlo Masters due to physical problems. As Friday is the last day to withdraw from Monte Carlo tournament, the Spanish player was decided to withdraw from the tournament.

David Ferrer tweeted that “he hoped to return to action at the Barcelona claycourt tournament which starts on April 22.”

”Unfortunately I cannot be in Monte Carlo for physical problems. I hope to be fit to play at Barcelona,” said Ferrer

David Ferrer is one of the key players in Monte Carlo Masters who can give a tight fight to the top seed players. David Ferrer reached final and lost to Andy Murray in Sony Open last month.

David Ferrer played really well till end in final and became a tough opponent to Andy Murray in Sony Open final.

As Federer is not playing the Monte Carlo Masters, David Ferrer was counted among the top 4 players who can reach the semifinals in Monte Carlo. But unfortunately, Ferrer withdrew from the tournament at last stage.

Ferrer suffered from muscular pain in the Sony Open final against Murray, which causes him to slow down in the last set. The good news is Ferrer still open to play in Barcelona Open starts from April 22.

Now the major competition will be between the defending champion Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray in the Monte Carlo Masters.
