Riverside’s Dodd makes most of his chance at Clemson
Dodd, a redshirt junior defensive end for undefeated and top-ranked Clemson, has submitted his paperwork to the NFL in order to discover his “draft stock.” Dodd, a former standout at Greer’s Riverside High School, didn’t exactly capture scouts’ imaginations during his first three seasons at Clemson, the second of which included a medical redshirt after he suffered a season-ending injury.
He played just 209 total snaps in three seasons, so essentially this season was the first opportunity for Dodd to shine.
He’d played behind some first-rate defensive ends in previous years, watching, learning and biding his time, but found himself in the starting lineup on the opposite end of all-star candidate Shaq Lawson when the Tigers kicked off the 2015 campaign.
Dodd wound up starting every game, logging 649 snaps just six fewer than Lawson, who led the nation in tackles for loss and was an All-American.
Dodd tied for second on the team behind Lawson with 15 tackles for loss while his 12 quarterback pressures ranked fourth on the team.
