Pacific Coast Amateur golf tournament
One of the nation’s top amateur golf tournaments begins Tuesday at the Seattle Golf Club.
The tournament has roots back to 1901 but was discontinued before being resuscitated at the Seattle Golf Club in 1967.
That makes this year’s tournament the 50th year of the rebirth and explains why the return to the Seattle Golf Club is no coincidence.
Pereira is ranked No 12 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
As part of the competition over the first two days, golf associations such as the Washington State Golf Association will designate three players as its team and compete for the Morse Cup simultaneously with the individual competition.
Washington State Golf Association team members are Eric Ansett, Frank Garber and Andrew Whalen.
