Gilbert reportedly suspended one year by NFL
The former Browns and Steelers cornerback has been suspended for an entire year by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, NFL Media reported.
Gilbert was given a four-game suspension in May for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Gilbert has struggled to make an impact in the NFL since the Browns selected him eighth overall in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Because any team that might sign him would have to wait a full season before Gilbert could play, the year-long ban might be a death sentence for Gilbert’s professional football career.
