Cleveland loses two key pitchers

The reigning American League champion Cleveland Indians placed All-Star reliever Andrew Miller on the disabled list Wednesday because he has tendinitis in his right knee.

Also, the Indians announced that starting pitcher Josh Tomlin will be out for six weeks because of a strained left hamstring.

Phils won’t honor Rose after all The Philadelphia Phillies canceled a ceremony to induct Pete Rose into the team’s wall of fame after allegations surfaced this week that he maintained a sexual relationship in the 1970s with a girl who was not yet 16.

Rose, who is banned from baseball because he bet on games while manager of the Cincinnati Reds, was scheduled to be honored Aug.

Major League Baseball has not lifted the lifetime ban, but it has permitted clubs to honor Rose if they wish.

Ray remains sidelined Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo doubts that pitcher Robbie Ray (concussion) will be ready for his scheduled start Friday in San Francisco.
