Golf Returns To The 2020 Olympics

The 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games are right around the corner and golf is once again on the schedule. Here is all the information you need to know to be ready for the 2020 Olympic tournament.

Olympic Golf is Here to Stay

After making two appearances at the 1900 and 1904 Olympic games, golf disappeared from the official schedule, until making a successful return in the 2016 Rio Summer Games.

Justin Rose brought home the gold for Great Britain in the 2016 men’s tournament, while Sweden’s Henrik Stenson and the United States’ Matt Kuchar took home silver and bronze.

In the women’s tournament, Inbee Park, of South Korea, won gold, while New Zealand’s Lydia Ko and China’s Shanshan Feng won silver and bronze.

With the sport set to once again make an appearance at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, it looks like Olympic golf is here to stay.

If you’re dreaming of bringing home the gold with your golfing prowess, you should probably book tee times in Pensacola and start practicing.

Top Competitors Will Battle for Gold

Don’t buy that trophy case for your gold medal just yet. Expect to see golf’s best and brightest athletes battling it out in Tokyo. Women’s British Open champion, Hinako Shibuno, has got her eyes on the prize.

Current leaders in the 2020 Olympics qualification rankings include Americans Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Tiger Woods on the men’s side and Lexi Thompson and Nelly Korda for the women.

Also topping the leaderboards are Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, Great Britain’s Justin Rose, South Korea’s Jin-Young Ko, and Sung Hyun Park, Australia’s Minjee Lee and Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn.

Catch All the Action on NBC’s Networks

There will be more options than ever to catch all the golf action you crave in 2020. NBC will once again be handling the television broadcast. Coverage will be split across NBC’s various networks including your local NBC affiliate, NBC Sports and The Olympic Channel.

You can also catch live streams of every event at nbcolympics.com, and the streaming platforms for The Olympic Channel and NBC Sports Gold.

NBC will also be partnering up with Twitter to provide live streaming coverage and extra content. If all of that isn’t enough, additional coverage will be available via The Golf Channel.

With the 2020 Tokyo Summer games less than a year away, it’s not too early to start getting excited to see your favorite golfers, and maybe a few new faces, battle it out for gold, silver and bronze.
