Greenwood Boys Still Await State Seeding Fate
On Friday, Greenwood’s boys held on for a wild 3-2 win against Siloam Springs.
Thanks to Russellville’s 3-2 win against Siloam Springs on Tuesday, it forced a three-way tie for first between Greenwood, Russellville and Siloam Springs.
The Lady Rebels took a pair of 7A-West wins within the past week, beating Springdale 2-0 on Friday and Rogers Heritage on Tuesday, 4-1.
In the win against Heritage, Southside (6-7 in conference) got goals from Kelly Carson, Alexandra Weindel, Makenna Hittner and Laura Bolton.
Southside is currently the fourth seed in the 7A-West with a game to play, which will be Friday at crosstown rival Northside.
Northside’s girls kept its slim postseason hopes alive by surviving a game at Rogers on Tuesday, winning 4-3 on penalty kicks.
Northside still has to win out in its final two 7A-West games, at home against Southside on Friday and a makeup game Saturday at Rogers Heritage, in order to reach postseason play.
In the boys’ game Tuesday, Northside got a goal from Angel Parga to pull out a 1-0 win at Rogers.
2 seed from the West and a first-round bye in the state tournament with a win at home Friday against Southside.
