Los Angeles Angels defeated by Kansas City Royals 5-9
Los Angeles Angels defeated by Kansas City Royals 5-9 in the third game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, May 15 at Angel Stadium o Anaheim in California.
Royals showed true offensive game and won with style. They took lead early in second inning and increased it in the third inning. The Royals batters rattled all the Angels pitchers never allowed them to settle on the mound.
Left fielder Lorenzo Cain scored two runs on two hits. He ran for three RBIs and on five at bats. Royals’ left fielder Alex Gordon also contributed in his team’s tremendous win. He scored one run on three hits.
“It was huge, because we struggled with the Yankees. So coming in here and taking two from these guys was big for us, Keeping those losing streaks down is definitely key throughout a long baseball season. So if we just continue to pitch the way we’ve been pitching and hit like we know how to hit, we’ll be fine. Now we’ve got the momentum swing going, and hopefully we’ll keep it going against Oakland,” Cain said.
Along with batters, the Royals pitchers also did well on the mound and proved one of the winning factors.
“Billy doesn’t stay down for long, He had a great series, and once he heats up a little bit, he stays pretty consistent,” manager Ned Yost said.
Starting pitcher Wade Davis pitched 5.1 innings and allowed four runs and nine hits. He allowed four earned runs on 5.98 ERA. He struck out two and pitched quite offensively.
Relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera tossed two innings and allowed one run. He received two hits on 4.42 ERA while he struck out one Angels’ hitter.
On the other hand, the Los Angeles Angels were outplayed in every department of the game. Their pitchers and at the same time hitters could not play well during the entire game and lost the game in bitter manner.
Starting pitcher Barry Enright pitched two innings and allowed four runs on five hits. He allowed four runs on 12.96 ERA. His pitching alone proved one of the losing factors for the Angels.
