Marlins drop finale vs. Crew
Caleb Smith erased any doubts that he could perform away from home, but the left-hander had little to show for it on Sunday in the Marlins’ 4-2 loss to the Brewers at Miller Park.
After being tagged for five runs in 2 1/3 innings in his last start, a loss at Yankee Stadium on Monday, Smith put everything together in his efficient six innings.
Until Sunday, Smith’s season had been different as night and day based on where he’s pitched.
In the sixth inning, the Marlins put themselves in position to tie the game or take the lead, loading the bases with no outs against Brewers starter Junior Guerra.
Belt owned the stage, as much for his historic 21-pitch at-bat during a 4-2 win over the Angels, as for hitting a home run in his fourth consecutive game played.
