Menlo is top seed for CCS tennis; M-A is No. 8

M-A’s Tim Berthier, who played in CCS doubles last year, qualified to play in the CCS singles tournament this year.

M-A was unseeded in last year’s tournament and won three straight to reach the quarterfinals, where it lost to Saratoga, 4-3.

Berthier, who played doubles in the CCS and reached the semifinals.

Menlo’s Bo Leschly, who reached the doubles final with his brother last year, is the second alternate.

MA’s team of Casey Morris and Tyler Ellingson, who won the PAL doubles title, were seeded third in the doubles competition.

The Bears Jake Andrew and Camillo Saueressig also qualified for the CCS doubles tournament.

Kolton Budge came through both on the mound and at the plate at the right times, collecting three hits and driving in five runs in Pinewood’s 14-5 victory over visiting Mid-Peninsula in a Private Schools Athletic League contest Monday.

Connor Riches added three hits and drove in three runs, while Bo Fick doubled three times.
