Rocori soccer making strides in 3rd year
When the Rocori school district approved boys and girls soccer in the spring of 2014, the goal was to help the sport grow in the community and build a winning program.
We are growing, thats the main thing.
The numbers are going up with both the boys team and the girls team, Rocori athletic director Joel Baumgarten said.
The boys team has about 40 players and the girls team has around 30 players, according to Baumgarten.
The guys are putting in the extra work to try and get better with every game, said Rocori boys soccer coach Chris Stavros, who is in his first year as head coach after being the teams assistant the last few seasons.
The Rocori girls team made history Sept. 17 at the Melrose Tournament: The Spartans took down Crookston 2-1 to record the first win in the programs history.
