Source Says NBA Vet & D-League Guard Chris Quinn To Sign With Cavaliers

The injury bug has bitten the Cleveland Cavaliers hard as of late. Already without Kyrie Irving and Anderson Varejao, the Cavs recently learned that Dion Waiters will sit out a week to nurse a sore knee. The guard may end up needing surgery.

Unable to find a way to quite stop the bleeding just yet, a source tells RidiculousUpside.com that Cleveland will turn to the NBA D-League for a bandaid of sorts.

The source says the Cavaliers will bring aboard NBA veteran and current Tulsa 66ers guard Chris Quinn, who was not seen in uniform on Tuesday night when his team took on the number one seeded Bakersfield Jam.

A five year veteran of three NBA teams, Quinn last appeared in The Association during the 2010-11 season with San Antonio. He was also one of final cuts during training camp last fall with the Utah Jazz.

Since, he’s been able to enjoy success in Tulsa with the Thunder’s NBADL affiliate alongside fellow past NBA players like Rasual Butler and Andy Rautins.

Quinn joined the 66ers in January and through 25 games, has led the way as his team achieved a 15-10 record. He’s compiled solid averages of 12.7 points and 6.1 assists, all the while shooting 48% from the field, 37% from deep, and 89% from the charity stripe. He only turns the ball over 1.68 times per game.

At 29 years old, Quinn’s ceiling for further success may still be limited at best. He’s struggled to break into the league as a backup point guard over the years.

Nevertheless, experience still adds value to those who own it. His five seasons in the big league certainly gives him credibility. With Cleveland searching for an injection of life into their lineup, Quinn may be able to provide just as much while seamlessly fitting right in to the Cavaliers’ fold.

Though he’s donned a D-League uniform this season as he fights for another shot, Quinn would arrive in town for Cleveland as the team’s third oldest player, behind Luke Walton and Varejao.
