The Los Angeles Clippers can be the fun
Gallo can also create his own offense off the dribble, which will be key with CP3 gone.
He and Griffin can’t provide enough rim protection and rebounding when they go small, and Gallo’s diminishing mobility could see him become a liability when he plays small forward in their starting lineups alongside DeAndre.
But if Gallo clicks with Blake like he did with Nikola Jokic another terrifically-talented passing big in Denver, the offensive upside of those two surrounded by some combination of floor-spacing guards (Beverley, Austin Rivers, Lou Williams, Teodosic) might have a chance to reach those peak CP3-led offenses in terms of efficiency.
With his former teammate Beverley playing off-ball and doing most of the defending, Teodosic can serve as the team’s primary playmaker whenever Blake’s off the floor.
Just like with Gallo, Teodosic’s defensive shortcomings will hurt the Clippers’ chances of winning when he’s on the floor, but those flaws should be easier to swallow if he can deliver the same type of entertaining and aesthetically-pleasing basketball which made him a legend in Europe.
However, the latter is still dependent on Doc’s ability to get creative and open-minded with his lineups to unleash his talented trio of Blake, Gallo and Teodosic offensively.
Although the Clippers still won’t be a title contender even if they reach their full potential, they can at least be an entertaining team to watch, which would somewhat soften the blow of the mediocrity they will likely find themselves in the upcoming season and the foreseeable future.
