C.J Watson’s Career

Charles Akeen Watson Junior is a famous NBA player who once played for the University of Tennessee. Mostly known as C.J Watson, the last match he played was for Orlando Magic.

For four seasons, Watson played college basketball for Tennessee Volunteers. He earned SEC all-freshman team honours for his freshman season. During his senior year in 2005-06, he played his best season. In the SEC play, he led the team to a record of 12-4 and 22-8. He earned the All-SEC honours from the league coaches and Associated Press after an average of 15.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists. Watson ended his college career as a Tennessee’s leader with 577 assists, 198 steals, 396 goal percentage, 401 three-point field goals and 1,424 points.

After graduating from college, C.J went unnoticed in the 2006 NBA Draft. Further to this, he played few matches alongside San Antonio Spurs, then joined Italian Serie A Team. The last team he played with that year was with Greek A1 Ethniki. The following year, in 2008, Watson returned to his NBA career. He joined the NBA D-League and was signed by Golden State Warriors.

During that season, he was the third leading scorer in that league, and also the 100th player to be recruited by a NBA Team. The basketball player managed to impress Don Nelson, Warrior’s coach. In the first 10 days of his stay on that team, he played 8 games and totalled 5.4 points and 1.8 assists in 16.6 minutes. Further to this, the team signed him for the entire season. On his official match against Sacramento Kings, he scored a career-high 40 points within 16-23 shootings.

Back to C.J, he stayed with Golden State Warriors for 2 years and then moved to Chicago Bulls. In 2012, Watson was signed by Brooklyn Nets. In the next season, he scored a huge 25 points in the 119-108 game against Denver Nuggets, and won the match. In 80 games for the Brooklyn Nets, he won an average of 8.6 points per game. For now, this great player is on the Orlando Magic Team.
