Cedar Grove youths Soccer

Cedar Grove’s home team, Wizards Sports Club’s U11 Madrid faced off against Jersey Crew from Montville.

The Wizards lost 4-2 to Hoboken City Futbol the night before but came home to win, with Coach Tamas Kovacs fully supporting them.

Kovacs, who founded Wizards Sports Club in 2016 after working with various academies in New Jersey and New York, huddled his players up before the game and said, “Everything is calm.

Federico Lucas, also a Wizards coach, wearing a pair of white chucks, knelt down, to review the opening play with the boys, using a whiteboard with magnets.

The game opened with Sebi scoring the first goal for the Wizards.

As the first half came to a close, Jersey Crew player, Drew Cerqueria, scored a swift corner goal.

In fact, he exchanged friendly banter with Jersey Crew’s Coach when his player grabbed a Wizards’ player’s cleat.

The Wizards have a short break, but will be back training indoors with Kovacs and Lucas come January.

Select Wizards’ players, who tried out and made the cut, will train under Kovacs with Team USA EAST for the upcoming Mundialito Tournament in Spain this March.

Based on Kovacs track record, who trained Jake Nerwinski, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Dilly Duka, New York Red Bulls and national team player, Dominic De Almedia PDA, USA U15, there’s no telling where these aggressive U11 Madrid Wizards will end up …
