Daniel Thomas has ‘severe’ ankle sprain; Broncos seem OK

Miami Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas likely will miss significant time and could be done for the season after suffering a “severe sprain” of his left ankle in Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports.

Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno suffered only a bruise to his ankle in Sunday night’s loss to the New England Patriots, a game in which Moreno set career highs in rushing attempts and yards.

Moreno rushed for 224 yards on 37 carries an average of 6.1 yards per rush as he continued to be the Broncos’ most dependable running back.

Del Rio was unable to provide an injury update Monday for starting defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson, who left Sunday’s game with a hip injury.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Jason Campbell is following the NFL’s protocol on head injuries and will likely miss this week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
