Fred VanVleet From Toronto Raptors Is Hoping To Become A NBA Starter Really Soon.

Toronto Raptors point guard Fred Van Vleet made his first career regular-season start last month and envisions himself in that role permanently.

With Kawhi Leonard injured, Van Vleet entered Torontos lineup on Nov. 17 against the Chicago Bulls and posted a season-high 18 points in a 122-83 win.

The 24-year-old has since started two additional games, and the Raptors are 3-0 when Van Vleet starts.

Last season, Van Vleet averaged 8.6 points, 3.2 assists and shot 41.4 percent from three in 76 games and made one start in the postseason.

With four-time All-Star and current assists leader Kyle Lowry still the incumbent, Van Vleet retained his role as the backup point guard
