Grant Hirschman Moves To First Place

In the rough of the 13th hole of Southern Hills Country Club, Oklahoma’s Grant Hirschman wisely chose to follow his coach’s advice.

“I was really just trying to nestle it down by the hole, and luckily enough it kind of curled right in the hole for me.” While vaulting the second-seeded Sooners into first place in the Big 12 Championship through 54 holes, Hirschman delivered the lowest round on the par-70 course Tuesday, shooting 68 to tie Texas’ Doug Ghim for the individual lead.

After three bogeys through seven holes, Hirschman was excellent on the back nine, sinking a long putt for birdie on No.

With good showings from Quade Cummins (71) and Brad Dalke (70), OU was 1 over for the day and moved to 12-over 852 for the tournament, which concludes with 18 holes of stroke play Wednesday.

Top-ranked Oklahoma State is tied with Texas six shots back, despite even-par rounds from Matthew Wolff and Zach Bauchou.
