MGA’s Howell recovering from heart surgery

Ed Howell, longtime coordinator of the Montgomery Golf Association’s city dogfights, had heart surgery Oct.

This Thursday, the dogfight is at Arrowhead and tee times change to between 9 and 11 a.m.

The team of Ron Peacock, Herb Waddell, Bob White and Jay Street combined for a minus-2 to take first place in the men’s city dogfight at Cottonwood last Thursday; 67 played.

Two teams tied for second place, The foursome of Ricky Brooks, Bishop Ray, Roger Olsen and Ed Grant combined for a minus-4, as did the fivesome of Wayne Baggett, Henry Harris, Victor Trotter, Larry Offutt and John Poole.


Fee of $65 for individuals and $250 for four-player team covers entry into 18-hole scramble, range balls, cart, lunch, ditty bag and door prize.

Entry fee is $100 per individual or $400 per team includes 18 holes of golf, cart and lunch.

Whitfield Foods of Montgomery is sponsoring the second annual ALAGA Syrup Pancake Classic junior tournament Nov.

Montgomery junior golfers ages 11-18 are invited to compete in the AJGT All Southern Livery Oak Harbor Fall Classic at the Oak Harbor Golf Club in Slidell, La., on Nov.

The 36-hole tournament is ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and hosted by the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour.

Entry fee of $195 includes two days of green fees, tee gifts and trophies in four age divisions.
