Rafael Nadal Is Almost To The Top Of The Roland Garros.

Twelve-time Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal came out strong in his first match of the 2020 tournament, beating Egor Gerasimov of Belarus in just over two hours, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.

There were only two break point chances in the first two sets—both were Nadal’s, and he converted each, breaking in the fifth game of the first set and again in the third game of the second.

Nadal finished with 32 winners to 20 unforced errors and a perfect five-for-five on break points.

“I played quite a solid match when I was serving, no?” Nadal didn’t win the only lead-up tournament he played in Rome—he fell to Diego Schwartzman in the quarterfinals—but he’s now won 24 matches in a row at Roland Garros, and is 94-2 here overall.
